The subject of a posting to the Chew message board at RootsWeb on 2007-02-22, which points out that he appears in the 1860 census of Dunkirk, Calvert Co. as a planter-farmer, close to the family of a Philemon Chew (25) married to Mary (23) with daughters Mary (5), an infant daughter and a Robert Chew (19); then later in the 1870 census of the 8th Election District of AA Co. as a store keeper with his wife Mary E. (Griffith) Chew (20), with Griffith neighbours at two addresses. He adds that according to family history, TEC 17959 never remarried after his wife's death, and raised his family by himself.
