1638-1642: Came from Norwich to America aboard the "Diligent", settled first at Hingham, Massachusetts, later moving to Nashaway, Lanaster Co., Massachusetts.

1654: Petitioned for the incorporation of Nashaway.

RFU 14107 lists four children: Simon (b. bef. 1618), Stephen (b. bef. 1619), Ann (b. 1620) and Elizabeth (b. 1620 in England, m. John Lazell 1649 11 29, d. 1700 08 03 at Hingham, Massachusetts).

1623: Sailed with his mother and servants on the "Seaflower", to join his father in Jamestown, Virginia.

1644: Was sent with brother Nathaniel to New England in pursuit of three runaway servants. Met and married Ann.

1650-1666: Migrated with other English colonists to Long Island to found the first English settlement near Hempstead, had a 100-acre farm at Flushing.

Head of New Jersey branch of Chew family.
