Was sentenced to have his name changed to Alexander MacGroother/MacGruether, settled on Alexander Magruder. Married 1st MB 10448, 2nd SH 19950 (sons James, Samuel and John: only Samuel had issue), 3rd EH 10432. Chamberlain of Drummond family estates in Dunblane parish, Strathallan. Officer in army of King Charles II, captured at the Battle of Worcester on 1651-09-03, sold into servitude the following year and sent to Maryland via Barbados.
