Hugh Roy

*1637 ENG

From TC 15785, who mentions another son Richard Roy, also born 1659, who allegedly also married a Dorothy in 1657 in Port Royal. Sounds suspiciously like confusion over John/Richard's first name.

An article in the March-April 2000 issue of the Rappahannock Gazette says that Hugh's family came to Virginia in 1634, that Hugh had a son Richard who settled in King & Queen county and war married around 1679 and that Richard had at least four children: Hannah, John, William (or Richard Jr.) and James. Hannah is identified as being born around 1680 and becoming the wife of Larkin Chew, which makes her HR 10302 and her father Richard Roy and not John Roy.
